Christopher Cameron Wines

The vineyard is situated on Dry Creek in the heart of the valley. The Van Alyea family cultivates the 45-acre Lambert Bridge Vineyard planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, and Chardonnay.

Soil and climate are the most influential factors in great wine. Lambert Bridge Vineyard has gravelly creek side soil and a Bordeaux- like climate. Due to the porosity of the soil and great drainage the vine roots dig deeply in search of water and minerals which bring complexity to this wine. As the old saying goes “the worse the soil the better the wine."

The majority of the grapes are sold to one of the largest and most respected wineries in Sonoma County. In the spring of 2002 the winery conducted a blind tasting with all twelve of their growers in Alexander and Dry Creek Valley. Our grapes/wine from Lambert Bridge Vineyard were determined to be “number one” of the twelve different vineyards in terms of quality, flavor, and complexity. This same vintage selected grapes were used to make our first Merlot. The Vineyard was once owned by Lambert Bridge Winery where the Merlot garnered numerous awards.

The Van Alyea’s take care of every step from vineyard to bottle, including grape growing, winemaking, sales, marketing and label design.
