In 2003, California Cellars was established by Tom Baldacci and Jim Peters. Both men are successful land developers in Northern California. Jim has taken on the management of California Cellars; while Tom stays very busy running his family winery, Baldacci Vineyards, located in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley.
Initially, their grapes were sold to such wineries as Domaine Chandon and Gallo. In 2004, they produced their first wines. An amazing 56 cases of Estate Chardonnay!
The California Cellars’ family is dedicated to seeking out the finest means by which to grow wine. The 100 acre Estate is located within a beautifully sculptured micro-climate bordered on the west by the Napa Valley, to the west is Calaveras and Amador counties and to the north, it skims the A.V.A. of Clarksburg. It is cooler than the Clarksburg region and similar to the areas of Carneros and the Russian River wine districts.
California Cellars' mission is to provide its customers with the highest quality, a refined style and, above all, the confidence that they will always present a wine of outstanding caliber.
The 2005 Chardonnay presents an Old World technique with present-day understanding of the proper representation of this noble grape.
With this release of the 2005 Estate Chardonnay, they have accomplished the quality level they wish to represent and provide to future customers. The label demonstrates their desire to keep it simple and lighthearted, but always quality.
California Cellars is pleased to announce that award-winning Napa Valley winemaker Bill Dyer has joined its growing team of wine industry professionals. Bill started his winemaking career in 1976 as Cellarmaster with Sterling Vineyards. He became winemaker for Sterling in 1985 and was responsible for developing their single-vineyard program. Since 1996, Bill has been consulting winemaker for numerous wineries throughout California (mainly Napa & Sonoma) and has had a great impact on the quality of wines being made in British Columbia. “We are very pleased to have Bill join our winery,” said California Cellars Vice President Donni Burke. “Bill brings a wealth of winemaking knowledge and talent with him. With his help and guidance we look forward to producing premium wines from our estate vineyard in Isleton.”
